Karen is a dedicated and highly skilled Occupational Therapist with 24 years of broad experience spanning hospital and community settings, residential care settings, discharge planning, rehabilitation including neurological and cognitive, and intermediate care. She is adept in managing the end-to-end assessment and treatment of patients with a diverse variety of complex conditions including traumatic brain injury, stroke and long-term neurological conditions such as dementia, Alzheimer’s, Multiple Sclerosis and Motor Neurone Disease.
During her established career, Karen has also managed patients who have sustained spinal injury, upper and lower limb fractures and amputations. She has extensive knowledge in recommendations for the provision of services, aids and equipment. Karen also has considerable experience in End of Life care.
Being adept in identifying equipment and adaption requirements for patients with complex brain injuries and neurological deficits, Karen is equipped with specialist expertise in holistic occupational therapy assessment, person-centred planning, seating assessment, mindfulness, and fatigue management. She brings a rigorous knowledge of CQC standards and extensive experience in clinical governance, audit and policy development.
Karen is highly proficient in the provision of specialist equipment, complex home adaptations, manual handling assessment and training, risk assessment and the completion of functional assessment reports, Karen as a TG Expert Witness, leverages her wealth of clinical expertise to provide objective, analytical and evidence-based reports. She is fully trained in Civil Procedure Rules, including relevant revisions as they arise, and diligently maintains her continuing professional development.
