With over twenty years of experience as a Registered Nurse, Katie’s nursing career includes senior clinical and managerial experience. She has worked within a variety of settings including, Intensive Care Units (ICU) paediatrics, orthopaedics, neurological, brain injury and the burns unit. Katie has experience of nursing within the community and has managed a range of complex presentations such as children with feeding/ventilation needs and pain management regimes. She has revised care plans; liaised with families and multiple-disciplinary teams to provide high standards of care. She is adept in the assessment of NHS Continuing Health funding (CHC). Katie has trained support workers within home care teams, in providing exemplary care, producing risk assessments and has trained in manual handling techniques.
Katie, previously, was the owner and manager of a domiciliary care company. She has collaborated extensively with health and social care teams, social workers, occupational therapists, physiotherapists and speech and language therapists to plan and lead the delivery of holistic and impactful home care packages for individuals with complex presentations, including, brain injury, amputees, stroke patients, Alzheimer’s, dementia and Parkinsons. She has also worked with those presenting with mental health conditions. Katie in conjunction with the NHS and Social Care providers has supported children with life-limiting conditions both at home, school, and within respite placements.
Katie has assessed and worked with children with Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Aspergers, Epilepsy, Learning difficulties and special educational needs within school settings. She has also worked with children with epilepsy, facilitated respite placement for children with complex health needs, medication management and provided support for the wider family.
