Joy is a Registered Paediatric Nurse with over 20 years of nursing children and young adults with specialist expertise in paediatric community nursing involving ventilated children. During her career Joy has worked within paediatric intensive care, gaining experience in a wide range of complex illnesses along with management of complex fluid/ventilation/inotropic drug regimens and pain management. She has also worked with children who have sustained non-accidental injury, collaborating with safeguarding teams and social services.
Whilst working with Martin House Children’s Hospice Joy has managed the needs of children and young adults requiring end of life care and those with life limiting disorders, such as severe cerebral palsy and neurodegenerative disorders, brain stem glioma, severe epilepsy, managing not just the needs of the individual but the wider family.
Having worked alongside individuals with brain injury, Downs Syndrome, loss of vision, hearing loss, Autism, Aspergers and learning difficulty, Joy has worked collaboratively when nursing in the community.
Joy is highly proficient in tracheostomy management, ventilation, safeguarding, emergency response, clinical governance, training, risk management, service development and resuscitation interventions. As a TG Associate, Joy leverages her extensive clinical expertise to provide authoritative specialist insight, producing thorough, clear, and objective Care and Equipment reports.
