Dr Ayana Horton
PhD, MBA, OTR
Ayana is an accomplished Occupational Therapist with 25 years of experience, spanning both clinical practice and higher education. She is currently a Lecturer on Occupational Therapy and International Healthcare Management at Brunel University and the University of Essex Online, respectively.
Previously, Ayana operated as a Senior Occupational Therapist in Neurology, treating patients with a range of neurological and physical disorders, including Alzheimer’s and dementia. Having gained experience across a wide range of occupational therapy roles, Ayana, during this time, assessed and treated adults and children with a broad variety of conditions. This included individuals with acquired brain and spinal injury, amputations, stroke, fractures, neurodiversity and mental illness. Adept at home assessment and being involved with multi-disciplinary teams, Ayana is accomplished in the provision of complex care packages and sourcing Aids and Equipment and housing needs for both adults and children alike. She has also managed those on End-of-Life Pathways.
She is fully trained in Civil Procedure Rules and diligently maintains her continuing professional development. Ayana has published and presented research in peer-reviewed journals and international conferences.
