Joan Gowans

BSc, RGN, RSCN

Joan provides Care, Aids and Equipment and Liability reports for both claimants and defendants as well as on joint instructions, reporting on standards of nursing and care, acceptable practice and risk management.

Joan has over 30 years’ experience in the NHS with extensive management experience and well developed interpersonal skills. She has worked extensively with adults, young people and children alike with a focus on the care and case management of children with complex care needs.

She is often instructed on paediatric cases involving catastrophic injuries/disability being trauma induced or arising from clinical negligence.

During her career, Joan has held senior positions including most recently as Professional Lead for paediatrics for the county of Cornwall, a role which required Joan to lead in developing all paediatric community services and working with multi-disciplinary agencies to deliver care to young people and children with complex healthcare needs.

Joan’s qualifications include a BSc (Open) from the Open University, a Professional Diploma in Management (Post Graduate), a certificate for management from the Open University, as well as being a Registered General Nurse and Registered Sick Children’s Nurse.

Bethany Bishop

RN

Bethany is an experienced senior clinical Nurse who has worked in both the NHS and private hospitals for over 30 years.

Such experience includes being fully proficient with both quality and regulatory structures throughout clinical areas including ICU, renal transplants, theatre recovery and anaesthetic pre-assessment wards.

She prepares reports for claimants and defendants and as a single joint expert in liability cases, relating to standards of nursing and care, acceptable practice and risk management.
