Throughout her career, Katie has led the assessment and treatment of critically ill patients with life limiting conditions and individuals with a wide range of surgical, neurological, medical and traumatic injuries.
Having provided general nursing, both in the NHS and private sectors, Katie has worked across a variety of specialisms including Intensive Care and medical wards. Her experience extends to the care of respiratory, oncology and pre/post operative care. Within rehabilitation, Katie has managed individuals with spinal and brain injury, cognitive and neurological deficit, including stroke, to maximise independence and aid ongoing recovery alongside a muti-disciplinary team approach. Katie also has experience of organ donation, palliative nursing and end of life care.
Evaluating and managing home care packages, Katie has gained significant experience through her career. The care provided includes tracheostomy management, moving and handling and complex nursing skills. She has undertaken a wide variety of training and activity on subjects including basic and immediate life support, invasive and non-invasive ventilation, suctioning and enteral feeding. She is able to effectively communicate with non-verbal individuals using technologies such as Eye Gaze and is proficient is the use of aids and equipment maximising safety as well as independence.
Katie leverages her wealth of clinical expertise to provide thorough, accurate and insightful Care reports which includes necessary Aids and Equipment. She is fully trained in Civil Procedure Rules and diligently maintains her continuing professional development.
