I am an experienced senior pain management nurse specialist and advanced nurse practitioner, with extensive experience caring for patients with acute, chronic and complex pain.
My practice encompasses the holistic assessment and management of pain, including complex analgesic regimes, opioid stewardship, medicines optimisation, no-pharmacological approaches and the management of patients with complex and long-term conditions.
I currently work as a Lead Nurse for Pain, providing specialist assessment, clinical leadership, education and advice across a wide range of specialities.
My experience includes the management of Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), neuropathic pain, persistent post-surgical pain and complex pain presentations, alongside pain associated with trauma, surgery and long-term conditions.
I regularly assess the wider impact of pain on mobility, function, activities of daily living, sleep, psychological wellbeing, employment and quality of life. I also have experience managing pain in frailty and patients with multiple co-morbidities, where treatment requires careful balancing of efficacy, safety and functional outcomes.
Alongside my clinical practice, I contribute to pain education, service development, clinical governance and multidisciplinary working, and hold a national professional role as Vice-Chair of the Pain Nurse Network.
