I have many areas of expertise within the field of Occupational Therapy, and I am confident and competent in conducting assessments, prescribing treatment and intervention and enabling the client to participate occupationally in day-to-day living. Major Adaptations, Neurological Conditions, Orthopaedic Trauma and Personal Trauma are areas of specialist interest with many years’ experience in the field of OT.
I successfully put into practice my Dissertation proposal for A Social Enterprise Community Café, employing women who had endured significant mental health and addiction.
I created a business plan, presented this to government members, secured relevant funding, recruited staff, provided training, procurement and purchasing of products, setting up of premises, creating rota for staff members, managing the budget, supervising the staff, mentoring and support throughout the initial opening period and ensured the women occupationally participated and we were able to successfully run a local community café for the residents of the town.
The business is now in its 8th year of opening and has seen many women return to the workplace and are now thriving occupationally. I am extremely proud of this achievement.
