Loss of Service Reports
Where a person has responsibility for the care and support of others, their accidental death or severe impairment may result in the need for alternative systems of care to be provided for their family or dependents
As part of assessments of care needs, aids and equipment, our associates routinely consider the effects of loss of services where a claimant had previously provided care for another person or persons.
Where a claim for loss of those services is made separately, we also provide specific Loss of Service reports, detailing any replacement services and indicative replacement costs. The report will evaluate the services the carer provided in the past and those which would have been provided in the future, as well as the most appropriate means to replace those services.
The Loss of Service report will be based on the evidence provided, including other supporting documentation, such as witness statements and historic records. Where a home-based assessment is required, that will also be undertaken as part of completing the Loss of Services Report.
Our reports often explore issues such as:
- Where one or more of the dependents (adult or child) has a disability
- Loss of childcare and/or gratuitous family care
- Development of an Industrial illness affecting an ability to provide services
- Delay in diagnosis in respect of the deceased (and where past care also requires valuation)
- Personal care
- Mobility
- Psychological care
- Nutrition and food preparation
- Household chores and cleaning
- Management of medication and treatments
- Personal administration and financial management
- Gardening services
- Decorating services
- Household maintenance
- Domestic services
Amongst others as the case may see fit.
