Fran Wicks, RM, BSc

Fran is an experienced midwife, spanning acute settings, including community, theatre, high dependency unit, birth centres and labour wards, working within the NHS at Royal United Hospital Trust, having gained “Outstanding” accreditation with CQC for its Maternity Services.

Her current role as a Midwifery Manager includes co-ordination across all areas of the unit. Having knowledgeable insight into the day to day running of the midwifery unit, and the challenges it faces, Fran understands the intricate balance between safety and productivity within highly dynamic areas of midwifery services. Currently Fran is involved with the process of Serious Incident Reviews, following death in pregnancy, reviewing timelines and any poor outcomes, including neonatal deaths.

Her leadership and delivery of training, includes mentoring of newly qualified and junior midwives, aiding with their development. Her role includes providing care for high dependency pregnancies and monitoring; between midwives and the wider multidisciplinary team; escalating where appropriate.

As a TG Associate, Fran prepares Liability and Short Form/Screening reports relating to midwifery for claimant and defendants, either singularly or jointly instructed.

Bethany Bishop

Bethany is an experienced senior clinical Nurse who has worked in both the NHS and private hospitals for over 30 years.

Such experience includes being fully proficient with both quality and regulatory structures throughout clinical areas including ICU, renal transplants, theatre recovery and anaesthetic pre-assessment wards.

She prepares reports for claimants and defendants and as a single joint expert in liability cases, relating to standards of nursing and care, acceptable practice and risk management.
